RUTH MARENE COTTINGIN

RUTH MARENE COTTINGIM 4/20/1923 - 10/13/2013 Early morning 10-13-13 with family and friends in her Apple Valley home of 47 years - Boots obeyed the command "stand down Marine - at ease" and sighed her last breath. Ruth Marene Cottingim, born 4-20-1923 and raised in Cerro Gorda, Illinois. The youngest child of Lloyd Henry and Gussie Mable Crow described herself as a "Daddy's Girl" and it was her Dad that gave her the nickname which followed her through 35 yrs of federal employment - 3 of which were active duty in the United States Marine Corp. In 1975 she was the Marine Corp. recipient of award for excellence in Traffic Management. Her Marine Corp. husband Donald Gordon passed 26 yrs ago. Her ashes will join his in the wall of Riverside National Cemetery with Victor Valley Mortuary handling final arrangements. She was blessed with two sons Michael Gordon with wife Patty of Nevada and Jeffrey Lloyd (predeceased) with widow Debbi (DJ), and "Foster" daughter Betty Lou with husband Tom. She had four grandchildren - Jon Jeffrey (JJ) with wife Krista, Brandi Kae with husband Matt, Clay Gordon and Jennifer Brooke. Her 7 great grandchildren are Austin Chase, Joey, Jacy Kae, Codi Jeremiah, Dayna JoAnne, Dusty Evan, and Blake Jeffrey. Boots was never afraid to speak her mind, generous to a fault, an avid Hesperia Pinacle Club player, with a right lead foot while driving her cadillacs. She took pride in her appearance with colorful flashy attire, weekly hair appointments with close friend Cathy Andrews for 39 yrs while daughter Rylee kept her entertained, and nails by Frankie. We are eternally thankful to VNA Hospice and entire Lopez family - Jose and Veronica and their children Saby, Victor, Samantha, Jose Jr, and Matthew, along with neighbor Mindy, all instrumental in allowing Boots to remain in her home until the end. We will say our final farewells at her home Sat. 11/9/13 at 10am. Please join us to celebrate Boots' life at 14938 Cheyenne Rd, in Apple Valley.
