SANDRA KAY GIFFEN

SANDRA KAY GIFFEN Sandra (Sandy) Kay Giffen entered into the Joy of our Lord on February 21, 2013, after suffering from a massive stroke a few days earlier. Sandy, a Victor Valley native, loved the high desert, living here all but a few of her 68 years. To say that Sandy was a devoted wife, mother & friend, would be an understatement. She was the primary caregiver for her husband, Ben Giffen, who has been recovering from a traumatic brain injury the last four years. Grandchildren were the recipients of her over-flowing love as well as their friends and numerous nieces and nephews. Sandy enjoyed her career with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, where she worked as their office manager for 19 years. She retired in 2000 to care for her grandchildren while their parents were working as she was unwilling to have anyone else care for her grandbabies. Sandy graduated from Victor Valley High School in 1962. She was popular with her classmates, being active in student government, and performing with her baton along the side of the high school band. She still has many friends from high school and enjoyed helping to plan their class reunions. Survivors include her husband, of almost 50 years, Bentley (Ben) Bruce Giffen of Victorville, daughter Stacy Kaye Ferris (Paul) of Victorville, grandsons, David Ferris of Orange, Jacob, Justin and Mitchell Ferris of Victorville, granddaughter Danielle Kae of Victorville, lovingly called adopted daughter Debbie Galuppo and her daughters, Alex, Sami and Frankie of Orange, mother-in-law Peggy Sartor of Victorville, sisters, Sharon McCurley (John) of Apple Valley, Sheila Rickerl (Jerry) of Apple Valley, brothers, John Schmidt (Diane) of Ogden, Utah, and Robert Schmidt (Cindy) of Hesperia. Sandy was met in paradise by her son Steven Bruce Giffen (Giff), who passed of a massive heart attack in June 2012, also by a sister Connie Sue Schmidt, and by her parents Kenny & Doris Schmidt. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you do a "Random act of kindness". Sandy loved to surprise others with such kindness and she was also known for an occasional practical joke. The family would love to hear of your kindness and ask that you report your deed on her Facebook page "Pay it forward Sandy Giffen" or just call one of her family members. Please join our family for a celebration of Sandy's life at High Desert Church on Saturday, March 9th at 10:00 a.m.
