William ''Bill'' Schnittger
August 4, 1943 - August 23, 2018

William ''Bill'' Schnittger of Barstow, was a resident of the High Desert for 35 years. He was born in Estherville Iowa, and spent his childhood years in Dunnell MN where he was a successful multi-sport athlete. He graduated from Mankanto State with degrees in physics and mathematics. In 1966, he joined the Air Force and there became a F-4 Phantom Pilot and went to Southeast Asia to fight for his country. Upon returning, he logged over 3000 hours as a pilot and also helped train many young pilots as an Instructor. Bill proudly served 21 years in the USAF. He then worked for Allied Signal at the Goldstone Complex near Barstow, where he was the Safety Manager and then later became the Complex Manager. After retirement he spent many years volunteering to help local students at Barstow College as a math and physics tutor. Bill is preceded in death by his father William; his mother Doria; and his sister Sharon. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law; Jason and Shannon Schnittger of San Antonio TX. and Steven and Brooke Schnittger of Helendale, CA.; as well as his sister Shirley Broslma and Richard Broslma of Fairmont MN.; and his beautiful granddaughters Camryn, Riley, Grace and Maggie. Bill will also be remembered by his numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers. Memorial donations in memory of Bill can be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, 420 Ave E. Barstow, CA 92311; some of which will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, something he felt strongly in support of.
