Paul Richard Jacoby, of Victorville, died April 4, 2008, in Hesperia.

He was born June 20, 1925, in Louisa County, Va. to parents Charles Ruben and Frances Jacoby.

Paul and his wife, Hazle, lived in California for almost 50 years. They moved to the Victorville area in 1985 shortly before Paul retired from his career with the state of California. Prior to working for the state, he worked as a plumber in San Bernardino and Alexandria, Va.

He loved the desert and enjoyed camping at Stoddard Wells and Ocotillo. We have fond memories of Mother and Dad riding in the old dune buggy over the sand dunes. After retiring, woodworking was his favorite hobby. We will treasure the handmade toys and furniture he crafted in his workshop.

He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines, U.S. Coast Guard and the Army, serving in both World War II and the Korean War. Paul will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Hazle. He is survived by daughters; Barbara Morris and Linda Lange; son-in-law Dwain; six grandchildren Rebecca, Scott, Noreen, Priscilla, Paul, and Ruth; four great-grandchildren Hailey, Madalyn, Chase, and Naomi; his very close sister-in-law, Mildred Knight of Hesperia; two sisters, Mary Jones and Nettie Trainum; and brother-in-law Maxwell Trainum, all of Louisa, Va.

Special thanks go to Home Instead, Kaiser Hospice and Hesperia Senior Campus, for providing wonderful care.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. April 12 at Victor Valley Mortuary, 15609 11th St., Victorville.
