CHARLES W. HERSHMAN (CHARLIE) Charles W. Hershman (Charlie) of Victorville, Ca. passed away from cancer on January 30, 2013 at daughter Lisa Clayson's home in Apple Valley, Ca. He was born in Ekin, Indiana, on February 1, 1932. He was raised in and around the Indianapolis area. He has lived in Victorville since 1962 when he was sent here from France. He enlisted in the Air Force and finished his retirement requirements in the Army Reserve. He served in Japan and Korea during the Korean War and helped to evacuate the wounded from Korea. He also served in Libya, Crete, Greece, France, Florida, and at the former George AFB in Victorville. At Orlando AFB in Florida he met Martica Gray. They were married in Folkston, Georgia, on September 20, 1958. Charlie worked as an auto mechanic, interstate truck driver, warehouseman, handy man and property management. He worked in the medical surgical field in the Air Force. He worked hard all his life and was still working at age 80. Survivors include wife Martica, son Scott Hershman (Kim) of Apple Valley, Ca., daughter Renita George (Tom) of Los Alamos, New Mexico, son Brett Hershman (Jeanette) of Apple Valley, Ca., daughter Lisa Clayson of Apple Valley, Ca., and son David Hershman of Victorville, Ca. There are twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Survivors include sisters Shirley Getzen of Rockford, Michigan, Marge Shier of Rockford, Michigan, Juanita Webb of Carrizo Springs, Texas, and Evy Curtis of Gold Canyon, Arizona. There are many nieces and nephews. Interment will be 10am, Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside. A Celebration of Charlie's Life will be 11am Saturday, February 16th, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, 15342 Jeraldo Dr, Victorville, CA. Kern Hesperia Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
