ELAYNE LOIS AKERS 8/25/1925 - 10/30/2013 Beloved wife and mother, Elayne Akers, 88 of Apple Valley, CA passed away at home on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 surrounded by her family. Elayne fought a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Elayne was born in Dunn County, Wisconsin to Ralph and Hazel Crites on August 25th, 1925. She was the oldest of four children, which included Leonard, Beverly, and Gary. Elayne enjoyed relaying many stories of her farm-life childhood over the years. Elayne attended Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois, and this is where she met the love-of-her-life, Lyle Akers. Lyle and Elayne were married in 1949 and embarked on a life-long service in Christian ministry. The states where they pastored were Missouri, Illinois,Iowa, and California. Following the pastorate, they owned and operated a Christian- residential care facility. Not only was Elayne skillful in business, but she was more importantly a godly woman and homemaker who was able to use knowledge of the scriptures to solve life's problems. Mom was often quoted as saying, "Now what does the scripture say about that?" Elayne leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Lyle, of 64 years, and sons Robert Akers (Julie), Curtis Akers (Sharon), and daughter Susan Peek (Rodney). She also leaves behind a host of family including grandchildren Andrew, (Karen), Amee, (Carl), Christine, (Adam), Bryan, (Meganne), Ashley and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Amanda, Liam, Abigail, and Rylee.
