FRANCIS X GARCIA 7/9/1932 - 2/19/2014 Francis X. Garcia, known and loved by many as "Wimpy" passed away suddenly as the result of an aneurysm, on the morning of February 19, 2014. Sons Howard and Gary, and grandson Jake were by his side. Wimpy was born July 9, 1932 to Enedina and Ventura Garcia. He was the 15th of 16 children. He grew up in Chino, CA. graduating from Chino High School in 1950. Wimpy served in combat as a Sergeant in The U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. After returning from the war, he started working on a dairy farm in Bakersfield, CA. where he met the love of his life, our beloved Kay. Wimpy and Kay were married in 1955 and had 56 wonderful years together until Kay's passing in 2011. Francis was a devout Catholic and maintained his deep faith in the Lord throughout his life. All who knew Wimpy were enamored with his charisma and his ability to bring life and laughter to any gathering. His vibrant personality has left a trail of cherished "Wimpy" stories that we all hold dear in our memories. Wimpy was preceded in death by his parents, many siblings, his beloved wife Kay, and 2 grandsons Christopher and Cade. We take great comfort in knowing they are all together again. Francis is survived by 3 sisters, 5 children; Ramona, Jeff (Kathy), Francis (Johanna), Howard (Jenny), Gary (Lora), 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and one more on the way. A Rosary will be held Friday March 7th at 7:00pm at Christ the Good Shepard 17900 Jonathan Road Adelanto, CA. 92301. Mass will be Saturday March 8th at 11:30am, also at Christ the Good Shepard. Graveside services will be a private, family only ceremony. We will be having a celebration of Wimpy's life immediately following Mass. We encourage all to attend and share stories of Wimpy's incredible life.
