JEWELL DEAN "JUDY" FERRERA 2/21/1922 - 2/15/2014 Judy passed away at her home in Silver Lakes, with her family by her side. She was 6 days shy of her 92nd birthday. She was our light, our joy, our sweetness and our unconditional love. Our hearts are broken, but find some comfort in knowing we will see her again… and in the mean time, know she is enjoying her reunion with all her love ones that have gone before her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Pearl Compton; all five of her siblings, Truman, Darrel, JT, Virgil and sister Dorothy McGill; her first Husband, Gordon Wood of 27 years; her second husband, Mel Ferrera of 22 years; and her son, Glenn Wood. She is survived by her partner of many years, Bob Jenkins; her son, Butch Wood (Connie); Granddaughters, Laurie Graham (Tom); Shelby Wood; Georgianne Schnibbe (Bart); Grandsons, Micah Wood (Melissa); Peter Wood (Claudia); and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Barbara Carr of MS; Melrine Brown of CA; Gail Otare of HI; and their families. Judy was a resident of the High Desert for 70 yrs., 32 yrs. in Barstow and 38 yrs in Silver Lakes. She had two careers; one as a Florist and the other as a Realtor. She owned Barstow Flower and Gift Shop and Red Carpet Realty in Barstow and Helendale. Her Life Celebration will be Sunday, March 2nd at 2pm at the Silver Lakes Clubhouse, 27801 Mountain Springs Rd., Helendale, CA
