JOHN JERSCHEID Obituary

JOHN MELVIN JERSCHEID 5/18/1929 -10/25/2014 John went to be with our Lord on October 25, 2014. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret Jerscheid; daughter Phyllis Jerscheid; sons Timothy and Ralph Jerscheid. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Sophia Jerscheid; sister Anna Brager. John served in the Army during his military career in both Georgia and Texas, where he met the love of his life, Margaret. He later moved his family to Barstow in 1962, to pursue a lifelong career with Bendix Field Engineering located at Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex and retired after 41 years. John was always fascinated with deep space technology and experienced a very successful career. He was a loving, caring, and generous husband and father. He was adored by his family and will be greatly missed, our shining star. Visitation/Rosary Thurs. Nov. 6 at 9:00am, Mass 10:00am, held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Barstow. Internment following at Mtn. View Memorial Park, Barstow.

John hired me directly after my enlistment was complete in the Air Force in late 1976. He gave me many opportunities, was a compassionate person, a great boss, and a good friend.

My prayers and condolences to his family. Rest in peace John, you will be missed by many!

On my very first trip to Goldstone in 1968 I met John. I found him extreamely easy to work with and I always looked forward to chatting with him when I was at Goldstone. I know he will be missed by family and friends alike.

To the family; my thoughts and prayers are with you as you celebrate the remarkable life and memories you shared with John. My heart goes out to you during this diffacult time.
