Lionel Fairbanks Obituary

Lionel Faribanks
Lionel Deloy Fairbanks, 70, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, from a long illness. He was born Jan. 10, 1940 in Barstow, Calif., where he lived until he got married.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 37 years in Barstow, Dodge City, Kansas, and Newton, Kansas. They then moved to Springfield, Mo., in 2008. He enjoyed scouting, outdoor sports and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carole Fairbanks of the home; sister, Donna Cantu of Houston, Texas; sons, Lionel P. Fairbanks and his wife, Lisa of Springfield, Mo., Michael D. Fairbanks and his wife, Ester of Independence, Mo.; daughters, Susan R. Pherson and her husband, Brett of Windsor, Colo., Lynda D. Delzeit and her husband, Richard of Dodge City, Kansas; and 10 grandchildren.
Graveside service were held at Hazelwood Cemetery at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Springfield, Mo. Online condolences may be left at www.walnutlawnfuneralhome.com.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Lionel was a legend in the Santa Fe Mechanical department, and anyone who ever knew him has a favorite LF story.
