MARGARET "PEGGY" LINDSAY 06/19/1947 - 4/09/2013 Margaret Anne "Peggy" Lindsay was born June 19, 1947 to Frances Mary and Francis Marion Knight at Torrance Memorial hospital. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, a special friend to many, and an admirable nurse. On Tuesday April 9, 2013 Peggy lost her 18 month battle with lung cancer. Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years John Lindsay, sons John Robert Lindsay and Christopher Blair Lindsay, Daughter in-law Shay Lindsay, grandchildren Trevor, Kyle, Jacob, Katelyn, and Emmarae and her sister Mary Louise Knight. Her brother, Robert Lloyd Knight had predeceased her. Peggy was a Nurse's Nurse, well-educated and devoted to the profession she enjoyed every minute. Her career in nursing included being a recovery nurse, ICU nurse, Charge nurse, Nurse Educator and finally a District Nurse with Hesperia USD before retiring last June after 20 years of service. Peggy had many great and loyal friends through the years. Her many loyal friends ("Buds") not only brought great enjoyment throughout her life, they also stood steadfastly by her side in her final days. Peggy loved to volunteer her services as a world class nurse. Her service took her all over the world. She went to Romania, El Fuertes and San Blas to serve orphan children. Her service as an Emergency Nurse for FEMA took her to Washington DC, Texas and New Orleans to help those affected by hurricanes. Peggy was a strong believer in being an active supporter of her community; she volunteered as a board member and a Shelter Nurse for our local Red Cross, proudly served on the Board of Trustees for St. Mary Medical Center, devoted many hours to Boy Scout activities and was instrumental in starting a non-profit Dental Service Program in 1999. Peggy enjoyed traveling to many places, Scotland being her favorite. One of her last goals was to travel with John to Scotland one last time, sadly, she became too ill to see Edzel Castle one last time. Peggy was truly an amazing and dedicated woman, she will be remembered and missed by many. Peggy's service will be held Saturday May 4 @10 am at Sunset Hills Mortuary in Apple Valley. Following the services will be a celebration of life in Peggy's honor from 12:30 to 4pm at the Solera Aspen Clubhouse 10741 Lakeshore Dr., Apple Valley.
