After completing school, he served in the US Army (in WWII) from 1945-46, with the occupying forces in Japan. Thereafter, he began a career of masonry work with his brother-in-law Claude Rupp. He met Betty Smith in 1947 and eventually married on September 18, 1948. In late 1963, he and his family relocated to southern California, living in Victorville and Silver Lakes for nearly fifty years. He was a masonry contractor in the High Desert area, running his own business with the help of his wife Betty. Bob was always ready for a good conversation with anyone. He had a warm and welcoming personality that could make anyone smile while enjoying fishing, gardening, and a cup of coffee. Bob had many friends that he treated as family at the Victorville United Methodist Church and the Silver Lakes/Helendale Lions Club. Through his masonary expertise and craftsmanship he created many architectural landmarks in the community. Services to be held at a later date.
