SAM KARRIGAN Samuel Karrigan, 89, passed away March 9, 2013 in Barstow. He was born in Kansas, and has been a resident of Barstow since 2006. Sam served in the US Navy during WWII, serving in the South Pacific. He worked many years in the retail industry, at grocery stores, and at one time owning his own liquor store. He resided at the Veteran's Home in Barstow, and was adored by everyone he met, especially the nurses and aides who he kept a stash of candy for. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was very devoted to his faith. Surviving Sam are his daughters, Donna Karrigan, Eileen Karrigan, Pat Karrigan, and Mary Karrigan; grandchildren, Shannon, Erin, Kevin, John, and Patrick; and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Nathaniel, Natalie, and Margaret. A memorial service for Sam will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at the Veteran's Home of California - Barstow in the Chapel. Arrangements provided by Mead Mortuary, 760-256-5671.
