DANIEL "DANNY" RAYMOND TORREZ JR. 10/15/1954 - 1/31/2014 On January 31, 2014, after a long illness with heart disease, we said goodbye to our beloved "Danny," a son, brother, uncle and friend to so many. Born in Barstow on October 16, 1954, Danny was raised and spent most of his life here, except for a brief time in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1990-2004. He was a graduate of Barstow High School, and learned the skill of making cabinets with his dad, helping in his cabinet shop and many side jobs. His appreciation in woodworking, turned into a passion of excellence for over 40 years, as a master carpenter and custom cabinet maker. His personal favorites included dancing, listening to country music, watching "Lonesome Dove" and "Tombstone" and savoring hot red green chili from New Mexico. But for all that knew him, he was a true cowboy at heart. He was "a hell of a roper," loving the rodeo sport of calf and team roping. Danny is survived by his mother, Rosalia Torrez of Barstow; eldest brother, Roberto Torrez (his wife Silvia) of Silver Lakes; and many family members from Barstow, including eldest sister, Alicia Torrez, a brother, William Torrez (his companion Beth Floyd,) Annabelle Garcia (her husband Michael,) Sandra Rivera (her husband Robert,) and Rosmarie Kanczel, a brother, Michael Torrez, and youngest brother, Jose Torrez. Danny also had 11 nephews and nieces, eight great-nephews and nieces and was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Torrez. A Funeral Mass for Danny, will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at St. Joseph & I. H. M. Traditional Catholic Church, 1090 West Laurel Street in Colton, California. At the request of the church, please wear proper church attire for the services. Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m., with Rosary at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road in Barstow. Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Memorial Services of Barstow.
