RICHARD S. DURAN 11/28/1943 - 3/9/2014 Richard S. Duran, a resident of Barstow, California for 55 years, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2014 at the age 70. Richard was born on November 28, 1943 in Belen, New Mexico to Antonio & Edalia Duran. In 1961, he started working for Santa Fe Railroad where he would retire after 30+ years of employment. On August 10, 1963 he married Elsie, whom he would spend the next 50 years with. They were blessed with two daughters, Valerie & Rachel. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus in 1975 and continued his membership for 39 years. He was a past Grand Knight and a Fourth Degree member. He loved his Dallas Cowboys, trips to Stateline and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio & Edalia; his sisters, Rosenda & Cathy; and his brothers, Jose & David. He leaves behind his wife, Elsie; his daughters Valerie & Rachel (and her husband Isaac); his granddaughters, Evangeline (and her husband Gavin), Crystal and Idalia; his only grandson, James; his brothers, Sam, Leroy & Edward; many nephews & nieces; and many, many, many friends. The rosary and visitation will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 505 East Mountain View Street, Barstow, CA on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 9 a.m. Mass will immediately follow. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road, Barstow, CA. Family and friends are invited to the Knights of Columbus, 581 Victor Street, Barstow, CA following the burial.
