William "Bill" Bokholt entered into rest on September 27, 2011 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was born February 29, 1936 in Sherburn, Minnesota and was a resident of Barstow for 41 years. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps, retiring after 20 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran, and served in many places to include Okinawa Japan, Quantico, Virginia, and Barstow, California. Bill graduated from Barstow Community College with an AS degree. He was the circulation manager for the Desert Dispatch for 15 years, and USMC Public Affairs Officer for 17 years. He volunteered with Toys for Tots, the Barstow Stampede Rodeo, and the Barstow Veteran's Home. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Karol Bokholt, grandson Danny Ellis and great-grandson Marin Alonzo III. Surviving Bill are his companion Florence (Ferd) Dicks, children Kerri Alonzo and Konnie Ellis, grandchildren Layloni Alonzo, Marin Alonzo, Kenny Ellis, and Roni Ree Alonzo, great-grandchildren Celina Lazaro, Angelina Alonzo, Isabella Alonzo, Jesse Alonzo, Victoria Alonzo, Sydney Ellis, Marin Alonzo Jr., and Maddy Ellis, and brother Jack Bokholt.
