MARTIN BLACK Martin E. Black 52 of Barstow passed away suddenly at Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area on Labor Day. Marty was born January 18 1961 in Bar Harbor Maine. Marty is survived by his daughter, Caitlin and son, Garth both of Barstow; mother, Ruth Jenkins of Ellsworth, Maine; half-brother, Ted Jenkins of East Orland, Maine, half-brother Arthur Modeen of Calico Ghost Town; ex-wife, Carrie Paetsch of Arizona, ex-wife Rhonda Black of Barstow; and step-daughter Crystal Matthews-Warren her husband, Charles and the children Ben, Marley and Holly whom Marty loved very much. Shortly after serving in the Army, Marty went to work at Fort Irwin as a civilian in 1986 for government contractors, and currently at Northrup Grumman Group where he worked until the time of his death. He was greatly loved by all he worked with and will be sorely missed by everyone there. Marty also had many friends from California and Maine whom he kept in touch with on Facebook and all are deeply saddened by his death. Shortly before his death, Marty and his brother Art traveled to L.A. to see the Dodgers play the Red Sox. The night before his death they went to Barstow Drive-In and on the day of his death, Marty and Art were at Silverwood Lake to spend Labor Day. Art will always treasure that he got to spend special time with his brother so close to his passing. A memorial service will be held at a specified time and place to be announced at a later date. Marty will be cremated and some of his ashes will spread back in East Orland, Maine where he grew up. Friends can remember Marty on his Facebook Page.
