Geraldine was born to Clyde Thomason and Ora Gill Thomason on Nov. 25, 1921, in Emmett, Texas. She was married to Leonard Green and they had two daughters. As an active member of the Baptist Church, Gerry taught children's Sunday school classes for many years in Emmett and Frost. After Leonard Green passed away, Gerry married Leonard Ballew and they had 32 wonderful years.

After living on various Central Texas ranches, they had eventually lived in Waxahachie where she worked for J.C. Penney for over 15 years. Gerry continued faithfully attending First Baptist Church in Waxahachie. After the death of her husband, she continued to live in Waxahachie until she moved to Waco in 2008 to be close to her daughter. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waco.

Her parents preceded her in death, as did her brother, Benny C. Thomason; her first husband, Leonard Green; her second husband and love of her life, Leonard Ballew; and her daughter, Carolyn Green Johnson.

Gerry leaves behind her daughter, Jan Serface and husband, Eddie, of Waco; son-in-law, Harry Johnson and wife, Barbara, of Arlington; five grandchildren, Amy Craven and husband, Marshall, of Magnolia, Joel Serface of Boulder, Colo., Jennifer Johnson of Dallas, Ben Johnson and wife, Lauren, of Arlington, and Ali Johnson of College Station. She was blessed with ten great-grandchildren who adored GG, and her special friends, Martha and Raymond Howell of Waxahachie.

The family wants to express its heartfelt thanks to Providence Hospice and Visiting Angel Ola Ellis.
