Phillip G. White

Phillip Gordon White, 72, of Gatesville, passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2012. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Gatesville City Cemetery with Larry McDonald officiating.

Phillip was born on April 26, 1940, in Gatesville, to the late O.G. and Bertha White. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1958. In 1961, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1965. Phillip became a licensed exterminator and worked in the fumigation field throughout the Midwestern and Eastern states. He retired in 2001 and returned to Gatesville.

Phillip was a lover of nature and animals, and was an avid reader. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 11 years. Phillip became a charter member of Eastwood Baptist Church in 1953 and later joined the Episcopal Church.

Phillip is survived by his son, Jim White of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Anita White of Topeka, Kan.; granddaughter, Tiffany Underwood; grandsons, James and Josh White; brothers, Joe Ralph White of Vallejo, Calif., and David White of Traunstein, Germany; and sisters, Ruby Majors of Bancroft, W.Va., and Phyllis Harvey of Gatesville.

Memorials may be made to the Gatesville Senior Center, 208 N. Lutterloh, Gatesville, Texas 76528.
