Ruby Neumann Kattner

Ruby Neumann Kattner, 90, passed away March 21, 2011, in Marlin, after a short illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Marlin with the Rev. Jeff Stull and Jeff Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin.

Ruby, the daughter of Reinhard and Louise Neumann, was born in Perry, Texas, Aug. 30, 1920. She graduated from North Texas State Teachers College and was a teacher in the Perry Community of Falls County, a school secretary in the Alice school system and a homemaker. In 1944, she married James E. Kattner Sr. and for almost 30 years, they made their home in Alice, Texas, where they raised their children. They later moved to Marlin in 1979.

As a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Marlin, Ruby served on multiple committees and boards. She was also a past member of the Art League, Garden Club and Sewing Club. Ruby's smile and willingness to help others will always be remembered.

Her husband, James E. Kattner Sr.; daughter-in-law, Nancy Kattner; three brothers; and four sisters preceded her in death.

Ruby is survived by sons, James E. Kattner Jr. of Spring, Texas, and Kenneth Kattner and wife, Jeanette, of Meridian; daughter, Karen Yoemans and husband, Aaron, of High Point, N.C.; and seven grandsons, Nathan Kattner of Houston, Stephen Kattner and wife, Amanda, of Austin, Paul Kattner and wife, Katie, of Katy, Caleb Kattner and wife, Bonnie, of Christoval, Texas, Collin Kattner and wife, Courtney, of Abernathy, Texas, Jeremy Yoemans and wife, Valarie, of Thomasville, N.C., and Ryan Yoemans and wife, Tracie, of Archdale, N.C. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and many special friends in Marlin and Alice.
