Earnest Carlile Obituary

Earnest "Earnie, Bubba, Rosie" Marshall Carlile Jr., 64, of Waco, passed away Friday. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Painter officiating. Earnie was born March 6, 1945, in Mexia, to Earnest M. Carlile, Sr. and Dorothy Howell Carlile. He was an aircraft mechanic for Continental Airlines for 36 years serving at both Houston airports. During his tenure with Continental he held various job titles in both operations and management. His job took him to out of state locations, as well as lengthy periods of time in Switzerland. After his retirement in Houston, Rosie moved to Waco, where he made many good friends. He blessed his cousin, Don Stevens, with many hours and miles of Christian fellowship and companionship on a daily basis. He was a faithful member of Highland Baptist Church and attended Joe Bob and Ann Whitt's Life Group. He was always so thankful to his special friend, Rose Ann Washburn. Bubba was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy; father; and sister, Marsha Knippa. Rosie is survived by daughters, Jennifer Eckhart and husband, Steve and Kenda Crum; son, John Marcrum and wife, Sharhonda; mother, Dorothy Cravy; sister, Larna Warren; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and any cousins, nieces and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be David Blaschke, Bill Auten, Gary Turberville, Mike Trantham, Jennifer Trahan, Ron Austin, Mason Stevens, and all of the 1962 Ingleside State Championship Finalist Football Team. Rosie, you were part of "our family" when we lived in Ingleside thru elementary, Jr High & Hi School & beyond. I can still see you now, the gentle cuddly bear with a heart bigger than Texas. Even though years and miles have separated us, your passing is just another journey. Your family was blessed. Now Marsha can sing to you. Love, one of your ol buddies...

My heart aches for all of Rosie's family and friends. I am so sorry for your loss. It is always so hard to understand why special people are taken from us, but find comfort in knowing that Rosie was a special part of all our lives. I will always remember his unique laughter and his great personality. He was always there if you needed a friend or a shoulder.

It was only in the last year through David Blaschke that I was able to find out where he was and some about his life. I was sorry he was not able to attend the last Ingleside EXs reunion. I was so looking forward to seeing him after nearly 40 years.

All of you are in my prayers. Hold on to your memories, and let them guide you during this time of sadness.

The Carliles were my introduction to Ingleside almost 50 years ago. The family was very warm and welcoming. Rosie, Marsha and Lorna were so kind and took me under their wing. Rosie's friendship, thoughtfulness and kindness remained the same all these years. My heartfelt sympathy to all of Rosie's family.

To Rosie's family,
I was so surprised to see the news of Ernie's passing. I have missed you all very much and wondered where you had all moved. I have not been in touch with the Carlisle family since Marsha passed away. I thank Bennie Friega for sending this to me and I send my sympathy and love for the loss of your beloved son and friend.

I knew Rosie as a teenager and he was the most easygoing, thoughtful, loving person even then. Though I have not seen Rosie in years, I understand he remained that type of guy adding generosity and love of family to his attributes. He will be missed by his many, many friends and loving family.

It has been many years since I have seen or talked with Rosie but I still remember him as a genuinely nice guy.
He was funny and a "hoot" to be around. I will never forget the night that someone hit and killed a black
steer in front of our house. Rosie was "hauling" down FM 1069 in his 59 El Camino. He never saw the steer lying in the road and hit it and went airborne. When he finally got the thing stopped and got out he had plenty to say and I was in stiches.
He had a great sense of humor and caring attitude and will be missed by all, especially his family and closest friends. MY thought and prayers go out to them.

I will greatly miss him. We had a lot of history together, with our friendship going back to early childhood. Countless great times full of teasing and laughing. Probably the most real/grounded, biggest hearted person I have ever known. Anyone who ever met him liked him.

The 1962 football season made a major impression in Rosie's life, mine and our other friends/teammates of that era. I don't think there has been a single time in the last 47 years when Rosie and I got together/talked on the telephone that that topic did not come up.

I'll miss the talks as well as the incessant kidding followed by the sound of his unique laughter.

Rest in Peace old friend.
