James C. Cropper

James C. Cropper, 70, of Hampton, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, March 5, 2014 with his family by his side after a lengthy illness. He was born in Boston, MA, January 21, 1944 a son of the late Myron D. and Dorothy (Spall) Cropper. Jim grew up in Waltham, MA and graduated from Waltham High School with the Class of 1962. Following High School Jim attended and graduated from Northeastern University in 1967 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, during which he was also a member of the Army ROTC. Following graduation, Jim served in the Army from 1967 to 1970 retiring with the rank of Captain. Mr. Cropper worked from 1970 to 1979 managing a family owned heating and plumbing business in Bennington, VT, during this time Jim obtained a Masters Plumbers License. He later worked in the automotive industry in Mechanical Design from 1979 to 1998. While living in Vermont, Jim was an active member at The United Methodist Church and was a Past Master of the Mount Anthony Lodge #13 F. & A.M. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren play sports. Jim was also an amateur bird watcher and sports fan. Jim thoroughly enjoyed bowling, fishing, the beach and living on the seacoast. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet (Noyes) Cropper; his children, David P. Cropper and his wife Heather Day, Michael J. Cropper and his wife Sarah, Alison Cropper-Ellis and her husband Frederick Ellis; his beloved grandchildren, Andrew Cropper, Jack Ellis, Erin Cropper and Veda Cropper all of Hampton; his brother Edward Cropper and his wife Judith of Chester and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The Cropper family would like to give a special thanks to Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care during such a difficult time. Visiting hours will be from 5-8 PM, Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
