Gloria J. (Chipman) Fahey, age 65 of Framingham, formerly of Waltham, died on Monday evening, September 16, 2013, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She had been the devoted wife of the late James R. Fahey for 25 years. Born in Framingham, daughter of the late Gilbert and Irene (Towne) Chipman, Gloria was raised and educated in Wayland. While working with the housekeeping staff at Leonard Morse Hospital, she met Jim and they married in 1978. Gloria and Jim made their home in Waltham for over 20 years. Gloria became employed with the former Hilton Hotel on Route 9 in Natick, and later worked many years with the Holiday Inn on Trapelo Road in Waltham. Her working life came to a close after a debilitating strike by a car while in a crosswalk on a busy street in 1998. An enthusiastic fan of both the Patriots and the Red Sox, Gloria also enjoyed working on puzzles, photography, travel, and day trips to the seashore. She was an accomplished bowler, having won many awards, both in leagues and individually. Predeceased by Jim in 2003, she is survived by two daughters, Sherry Anita and Elizabeth Jean Fahey; a sister, Brenda Chipman of Natick; three brothers-in-law, Arthur Fahey and his wife Josephine of Milford, Richard Fahey of Worcester, and Earl Fahey of Natick; a longtime friend, Roger McCauley of Framingham; and four nieces and a nephew. Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Saturday, September 21st at 9:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Patricks Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick at 10:00a.m. She will then be laid to rest with Jim at Saint Patrick Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday 3p.m.-7pm. Donations may be made in Glorias memory to the International Dyslexia Assoc, 40 York Road, Suite 400, Baltimore, MD 21204.
