Ivy P. Moran died on June 6, 2013, at the age of 92. She was born in 1920 and raised in a Catholic orphanage-convent in the Northampton-Holyoke area. After leaving the convent, she took a job as chef for a restaurant in Northampton on Rte. 5 where she met and married the owner, William Moran. In the 1950s Bill and Ivy sold the restaurant and moved to Waltham. Together they opened several antique stores in Brighton and Waltham. After Bill died, Ivy worked at a variety of jobs and was a resident of Waltham for over 50 years. Her last address was on Pine Street. Ivy loved animals and children and was beloved by all who knew her. In 2005 Ivy moved to Newton Health Care Center where she made many new friends and always brought much cheer and sunshine to all. A memorial service will be held in Newton this summer. For more information, visit brascofuneralhome.com.
