John Monahan Obituary
John Robert Monahan was born May 24, 1933 in Watertown, Massachusetts to Michael and Ruth Monahan and passed away on April 30, 2013 in Turlock, California. John grew up in Waltham, Massachusetts and graduated from St. Marys High School in 1950. John joined the United States Air Force in 1951. Throughout his career he served as a B-52 Gunner with multiple tours in Vietnam. John retired in 1979 as a Senior Master Sergeant with 29 years of service. After relocating to California in 1983 he began working for RSI Systems Credit Bureau in Turlock until 1992. He has enjoyed retirement since then. John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His most joyful times were spent at school functions, sporting events, holidays, and birthday parties. He enjoyed traveling to Massachusetts to visit family where he was known as Bob. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and enjoyed watching the games with his family. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. John is survived by his two children, son Michael Monahan of Willows and daughter Mary Prine (Kenny) of Denair; brother Tommy Monahan and sister Rita Cranitch, both of Massachusetts; five grandchildren Kayla Graybeal, Stephanie Monahan and Michael Ian Monahan all of Willows, Kaden Prine and Kenzie Prine of Denair, 3 great grandchildren with 1 on the way, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Ruth Monahan. Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 4:00-8:00pm at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel, 1290 Winton Way, Atwater, Ca 95301 with rosary beginning at 6:00pm. Mass will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 11:00am at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 330 Franci Street, Livingston, Ca 95334. Burial will follow at 2:00pm at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery with Military Honors.
