Alice (Borden) Spurr of Waltham, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, January 17, 2014, at the Maristhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waltham. She was 91. Born on November 20, 1922 to the late Charles and Mary (Healey) Borden, she was a lifelong resident of Waltham. She was a 1942 graduate of Waltham High School and worked at Raytheon as an assembler from 1942 until her retirement in 1987. Mrs. Spurr volunteered at Waltham Hospital and was president of the Residents Association at 48 Pine St. She enjoyed helping people and received several citations from the Mayor and Governor. In her spare time Alice loved playing Bingo, crossword puzzles, and taking trips. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl Spurr, sister of the late Joseph and Thomas Borden, twin sister of the late Mary Morgan, and aunt of the late Gail Coulter. She is survived by her loving brother Frederick Borden and his wife Jean of N. Fort Myers, FL, and her nieces and nephew June Baker of Revere, Gloria (Sissy) Surette of Manchester, NH, Mary Dicicco of Billerica, Fred Baker and his wife Linda of Burlington, Diane McNally and her husband Kevin of Marlborough, Sally Palmer of Loris, SC, and Susan Buzzell of Cape Coral, FL. She is also survived by 15 grand nieces and nephews, 21 great-grand nieces and nephews, 3 great-great-grand nephews, her brother-in-law John Morgan, and many other family members and friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend A Funeral Service in celebration of Alice's life at the Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Friday at 10 a.m. Interment of ashes will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery.
