Elgar A. Dustman, 90, Warrenton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013.
He was born June 22, 1923, the son of Lorenz Dustman and wife Zerelda, nee Schroer, and resided in his early years in Treloar. Elger, who was fondly called "Dusty," was confirmed by the Rev. G.A. Roedder at Friedens United Church of Christ, Warrenton, in 1936 where he was a lifelong member.
On Jan. 27, 1946, he was united in marriage to Doris Drosselmeyer at Friedens UCC by the Rev. G.A. Roedder. In 1949 Elger became a distributor of Anheuser-Busch products in Warren County and several surrounding counties. For 30 years Elger and Doris worked together as a team in developing this distributorship. What began as a small enterprise evolved into a thriving business by the time they sold the franchise in 1979. In his post business years, Elger worked on his farm north of Warrenton, enjoying his cattle and horses. He was also known for restoring and showing classic cars. He had many interests and was attune with the changing times.
Elger was a member of the Elks Club in Washington, the Missouri Cattlemen's Association and, for many years, a member of the Rural Fire Board. He served as a member of the church council at Friedens UCC, was a frequent usher, and participated in countless improvement projects at the church.
Elger is survived by his wife, Doris; one brother, Ralph Dustman; one brother-in-law, John Drosselmeyer; three nieces, Debbie Wheelis, Beverly Drosselmeyer and Bobbi Drosselmeyer; two goddaughters, Francine K. Sprick and Elisabeth A. Engel; a host of family and friends who loved him.
A celebration of Elger's life was held Monday, Sept. 16, with viewing beginning at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ, Warrenton.
Interment followed in Warrenton Cemetery.
