Marie M. Brakemeyer, nee Mordt, 93, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
She was born in Hawk Point Jan. 7, 1920, one of 11 children born to the late Henry Mordt and wife Meta, nee Winter. Marie was united in marriage to the love of her life, LeRoy Brakemeyer, Oct. 28, 1945. They celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage.
She was employed by Curtiss-Wright Aircraft during World War II. Marie loved music, singing and crossword puzzles. She was a gifted seamstress and crafter. Marie had a kind and generous heart.
Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband, LeRoy Brakemeyer; parents; three brothers, August Mordt, Louis Mordt and Robert Mordt; and seven sisters, Alvina Davis, Flora Schneider, Ella Winter, Lena Clara Mordt, Meta Luelf, Laura Rolfe and Esther Green.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Brakemeyer, Naperville, Ill., and Randall Brakemeyer, Godfrey, Ill.; one daughter, Debra Gaebelein and husband Claude, Manchester; one granddaughter, Jennifer; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation and a celebration of Marie's life were held Saturday, May 25, at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton.
Burial followed in Warrenton City Cemetery.
Memorials to the Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired, in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred.
