Dorothy F, Williams, 96, Wright City, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake Saint Louis.|
She was born April 18, 1918, in Rolla, the daughter of Herman J. Franz and wife Cecil V., nee Carroll. Dorothy worked at Farmers & Merchants Bank, Wright City, for 40 years. She started as a teller, working her way to vice president. Dorothy was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Wright City. She enjoyed spending time reading, fishing, flower gardening, watching birds and traveling.
Dorothy and her husband, James, formed a special bond with Gilbert Watkins when he was a young boy. They drove him to the School for the Deaf for many years. In later years, Gilbert in turn helped to take care of Dorothy.
Dorothy is survived by one sister, Helen (Leonard) Tochtrop Snavely, St. Charles; one nephew, George (Sharon) Hasekamp, Hawk Point; two nieces, Mary Hase and Sara Creech, both of Hawk Point; many great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-niece and -nephews who were the highlight of her days; other relatives and many friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Williams; parents, Herman and Cecil Franz; one sister, Lena Hasekamp; and two brothers-in-law, Fred Hasekamp and Charles Tochtrop.
Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Immanuel U.C.C., Wright City.
A funeral service followed at 4 p.m. at the church.
Interment was in Wright City Cemetery, Wright City.
