Dr. MARY G. ENIG
On Monday, September 8, 2014, MARY GERTRUDE ENIG of Calverton, MD. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Julius W. Enig; loving mother of Daniel Enig, Jordana Enig (Larry) Stockhamer and Eric (Jessica) Enig; dear sister of Julian and John Dracon and the late Jean Rusting; cherished grandmother of Katie, Lindsay, Stefanie, Brooke, Monica, Emma and Annabelle. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, 1 p.m. at B'nai Israel Congregation, 6301 Montrose Rd., Rockville, MD. Interment following at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Adelphi, MD. Shiva will be observed at the home of Eric and Jessica Enig. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to TORCHINSKY HEBREW FUNERAL HOME, 202-541-1001 (endorsed by the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington).

I am convinced Mary saved my life some 27 years ago by alerting me to the dangers of partially hydrogenated oils. It was then I became an ardent ingredient reader and can honestly say banned PHO from our house and diet. And thanks too to the WAP Foundation. i still refer to Know Your Fats frequently. She was so far ahead of her time and was areal leader in the war against PHO.

Mary Gertrude (Dracon) Enig was the older sister of four children; Mary, Julian, John & Jean (twins). We all grew up with a keen desire for knowledge and advanced education. I'm sure we got this push from our parents, Gladys and Joseph Dracon. Mary as the oldest, was undoubtedly the leader and a mentor.

Mary's many accomplishments speak for themselves. As first generation Americans, each of us were magnifications of the great opportunities available in the United States to those who seek fulfillment in life.

I am upset to hear of Mrs. E's passing. She was a caring and compassionate person who always made me feel welcome and comfortable when spending time with the Enig family. Her knowledge of and love for dietary reform were enormous. She was a friend to many and an excellent teacher to those who chose to listen to what she had to say regarding nutrition. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

I have heard of Mary Enig since I got involved with the Weston A. Price organization nearly 15 years ago. Her books and information have given me so much knowledge and changed my dietary life forever. I am so very sorry for your loss. Mary was remarkable, one of a kind. It was a great privilege to know her, and your father as well. I never had the privilege of meeting Mary, but her work has had a huge impact on my life. Her courage of conviction is an example to us all, she taught us that science should be about truth.

Her work taught us not to fear food, and to question the authoritative science that we were indoctrinated into.

Her legacy will no doubt outlive us all.

Sending condolences to her family. Though I never met Mary, she has greatly influenced my life. She is the cornerstone of the changing of the tide of the dangerous lowfat food fad. My sincere condolences on the loss of a remarkable woman. I heard her speak on trans fats at U-MD when I was a grad student in the human nutrition dept. Three years ago I happened upon her name on the internet, and that steered me to the important work she had done and the WAPF. I've returned to the field and am now a chapter leader. Everyone I tell my story to hears Mary's name. May your memories of her be a blessing.
