FRED GORHAM FOLSOM, JR.  
Fred Gorham Folsom, Jr, 97, died peacefully at his home in Alexandria, VA on January 2, 2012.Born in Boulder, CO in 1914, Folsom was a 1936 graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and a 1938 graduate of its law school. His career was spent as an attorney for the U.S. Justice Department, where in 1947 he was Acting Chief of the Civil Rights Section, and from 1961 until his retirement in 1972 Chief of the Criminal Section, Tax Division.He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Slaughter Folsom, and his daughter, Susan Jean Folsom Lindberg. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Catharine Murphy Folsom; his son, Fred Folsom, III (Rose), and five stepchildren: Andrew L. Kreutzer (Barbara), Thomas K. Kreutzer (Anne), John H. Kreutzer, David W. Kreutzer (Barbara) and Elizabeth E. Tobin (Greg). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.A family gathering will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or Capital Caring Hospice Services, www.capitalcaring.org, 2900 Telestar Ct, Falls Church, VA 22042.
