FOREST DOLBEAR MONTGOMERY
Born February 20, 1930, and passed away on June 15, 2016 after a short illness. He was born in Buffalo, New York, to Forest K. and Elizabeth Dolbear Montgomery. Forest was a long-time resident of Bethesda and Potomac, MD. Forest graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and from the University of Maryland. He met his beloved wife of 62 years, Maxine Park, at Bethesda-Chevy Chase. She passed away on September 1, 2015. They were predeceased by their much loved daughter, Leslie Carol Montgomery. Forest served as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, stationed at Smoky Hill AFB (now Schilling AFB) in Salina, Kansas. Forest is a graduate of The Georgetown University Law School, where he was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. He began his career in the Chief Counsel''s Office of the Internal Revenue Service, and subsequently served as a senior counsel in the Office of the General Counsel of the US Treasury Department. Upon his retirement from Federal service, Forest served as a legal advisor at the National Association of Evangelicals. Forest was a lifelong Redskins fan, a tennis player, and golfer, once winning the Junior Golf Championship at Congressional Country Club. But, Forest''s passion was for the game of bridge. He was a member of several clubs and teams, and participated in many bridge tournaments. He was very proud of recently achieving Life Master status. Forest is survived by several nieces, and many, many loving friends. A celebration of Forest''s life will be held on Saturday, July 23, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Pumphrey''s Colonial Funeral Home, 300 West Montgomery Ave., Rockville. Interment in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
