BETTY GOOD EDELSON  
On Wednesday, December 31, 2014, Betty Good Edelson of Washington, DC. Beloved wife of the late Burton I. Edelson. Devoted mother of Stephen (Margaret), John (Carmen) and Daniel (Vivian). Sister of the late Henry Good. Grandmother of Rachel, Kate, Ariana, Rose, David and William. Aunt of Ruth and Joan, Geoffrey, David, Andrew and Joshua. A Memorial Service was held Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Washington Hebrew Congregation, 3935 Macomb Street NW, Washington, DC 20016-3741. The family will receive friends and visitors at her residence from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today, January 3, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, January 4. There will be a private burial to take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that memorial contributions in Betty Good Edelson's name may be made to the charity of your choice.

I am truly sorry I didn't see the notice about Betty; I felt so fondly of her and Burt, and her passing is another hard loss for us all. Betty and Burt were among my parents' closest friends (Bill & Kathy Pritchard), and Betty was so kind to me when my own parents died. She will be deeply missed.

Since I arrived in Washington a half-century ago, Betty was my warm companion. We took the first-ever ride on the Metro together, went to League of Women Voters meetings, walked and talked together. In recent years, it was lunches, the Smithsonian Craft Fairs, and book talks.
For joy in her friends, deep thoughts, love of England and beautiful things and her wonderful sons, Betty never failed.
The world is a dull place without her.

Betty and I were friends from childshood. Her Mom and Dad and my parents were friends for years. We both went to Park School, but she graduated several years before I did. We moved to Denver 43 years ago and I lost touch with many old friends. She was a beautiful young girl and a beautiful woman and all who knew her will mourn.
