We are deeply saddened at the death of Ruth Sorensen who in the last almost 4 years of her life when we were charged with taking care of her joined our family. During this time when we spent the better part of each day together, we became more than acquaintances or even close friends. We became family.

Ruth was very intelligent, well-read and well-travelled and used to enthrall us with tales of her numerous adventures and escapades along the way. Together we used to watch reruns of classical movies and marveled when she could name almost everyone except the extras in each film.

Ruth was an independent spirit and not afraid to speak her mind, but also had a great sense of humor. She made us laugh at unexpected moments with her wit. We had the privilege of sharing some wonderful times together which we will never forget. We celebrated many a holiday together either by attending her beloved National Presbyterian Church, or going out for lunch. We visited museums and went shopping or stayed at home like families do.

A kind of emptiness has descended in our home since her departure and we don't know when or if that emptiness will ever leave us. There will never be another Ruth. We are grateful to have been her family for 4 years of our lives and all the memories shared with her will forever be cherished and remembered.
