(Angela) Acuña; brother of Felicitas del Valle Silvetti, Estela Carlota Esponda, Maria Magdalena Cano and Manuel Alberto Acuña. Grandfather of Nathan, Emily, Kate, Pearson and Mario. Family will receive at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD on Monday, March 9, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., with a Memotial Tribute Service at 8 p.m. Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bowie, MD. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mario H. Acuña Memorial Fund, The Catholic University of America, 620 Michigan Ave., NE, Aquinas Hall, Room 106, Washington, DC 20064. (checks should be made payable to The Catholic University of American and should reference the Acuña Fund on the memo line) or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 (checks should be payable to "MMRF")

It was a pleasure to know and work with Mario for many years at the Goddard Space Flight Center. He was a world-class scientist whose important contributions to earth and planetary science will never be forgotten.
