JOHN H. BOECKEL
Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. October 27, 2012 at Paula Quick Hall, 669 Country Club Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28311. He died August 14, 2012 at home in Fayetteville, NC where he lived with wife Emily. Born March 13, 1927 to Florence Brewer and Richard M. Boeckel in Washington, DC. He graduated Duke University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and served Navy. He earned his Master's of Science Degree at RIT. He worked Naval Surface Weapons Laboratory in 1960. Was elected Who's Who in Engineering. He worked at NASA as Director of Engineering at Goddard Spaceflight Center in the late 1970's a position held until he retired in 1988John was truly a great man, always have a positive attitude and outlook on life. He enjoyed building wooden boats and loved the water. His memory will be cherish by his beloved wife Emily Boeckel of Fayetteville, NC; his two sons Timothy Boeckel (Laura) of Kentucky and Dave Boeckel of Oregon: step daughter Latoya Green (Antwuan) of Fay, NC; step son Gregory Chamberlin (Chantal) of Maryland; seven grandchildren, nephew and lots of love ones.We love and miss you dearly

John, when we opened your obituary and saw your picture it brought warmth to our hearts and a smile to our faces. We feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with you in our our lifetimes. You were a WONDERFUL man, and you have taught us so much just through the way you lived your life. Though it is very sad that you are gone now, we know you are in a better place, and we will always say a little prayer for your precious and wonderful soul.
