I met Louis in 1974, when he attended the University of Chicago Business School. I was an undergraduate there. We lost touch, so I was quite surprised and pleased when he reached out on LinkedIn several years later. He was a brilliant man. I still think about our friendship. My heartfelt condolences to his daughters, son and widow.

Lou left too soon. Your physical presence and loyal as well as heartfelt friendship over decades will be truly missed in a profound way. You pursued academic scholarship, and certainly passed it along to the four children you loved so very much and talked about all the time. My special sympathy for Valerie whom he loved deeply, cherished, and was grateful for having in his life. Our last conversation a few weeks ago was about Val, his children, God, and reflection on his life. His beautiful, accomplished family was always subject number one. He accomplished much in his life and will always be admired for his unfaltering optimism, belief in God, love of his family, fortitude, scholarship, work ethic, being there for those that loved him and that he also loved . . . as a husband, father, relative, and incredible friend. His legacy continues on and to his family and his brother Nate . . . . my deepest sympathy and love, for you were what meant the most to him. You were what made him MOST proud. George and I are here for you always as he was for us; we too are devastated by the loss and can only imagine yours. But please know that God, and now, Lou are eternally watching over you ALWAYS from above. We were blessed to have known him and will never forget the difference he made in all of our lives. We must continue to strive on and make him proud while he smiles at us from above. He stayed as long as he could. Good and faithful soldier . . . . life well-lived and job well done.

I worked with Louis on a grant application at Howard U. He was a great guy and I will truly miss him. He had a warm personality and was an excellent writer. I admired his courage as he fought his illness.
