BARTOO, JOYCE L.  
  JOYCE LOUISE BARTOO   A long-time resident of Washington, DC, died Saturday, July 18, 2015, in a plane crash near Cody, WY, where she was vacationing. Joyce was born on May 28, 1950, in West Palm Beach, FL, a daughter of the late Donald and Anita Bartoo, and lived in Palm Beach, FL with her family until they moved to College Park, MD when Joyce was nine. She attended the University of Maryland, graduating in 1972, and later graduated with honors from The George Washington University School of Law, where she also served on the Law Review.   She spent her entire legal career practicing anti-trust law. She began that career in private practice at the firm of Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin and Kahn, before moving to the anti-trust section of the Department of Justice. She ended her career in private practice again, at the firm of Winston & Strawn in 2009. After retiring, Joyce enjoyed traveling, reading, dining around Washington, and spending time with her beloved family and friends.   Joyce is survived by two sons, Alex and Benjamin Litoff; two sisters, Diane and Barbara Bartoo; nephews, Daniel Goldsmith, Michael Bartoo-Abud and Matthew Goldsmith, and nieces, Lindsay Judd, Allison Feiner and Katherine Goldsmith.   A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 1 at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Share Our Strength at nokidhungry.org or a charity of the donor's choice.

Blevins, Diane June  
  Diane June Blevins (Age 63)   Of Nokesville, passed away July 23, 2015 after a long illness. Born April 28, 1952 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Jack Monroe and June Rice Monroe.Diane retired after many years of service as a Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service. Surviving besides her mother of Fairfax, is her significant other and caretaker, George Henry of Nokesville; one son, Josh Blevins also of Fairfax; and one sister, Linda Logan of California. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. Graveside and interment services will take place at 2 p.m. in Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Highway, Manassas, Virginia.   SYLVIA KRISTALL (Age 99)   On Saturday, July 25, 2015, SYLVIA KRISTALL COHEN of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife of the late Albert D. Kristall; loving mother of Jacqueline K. (Albert B. Hemmerdinger) Goldberg, Francine Kristall "Cookie" (Robert) Freid, Cherie Berg (Paul) Fett and Norm M. (Debi) Kristall; beloved grandmother of 11; great-grandmother of 12 and great-great-grandmother of two. Sylvia was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII, repairing military planes. She did this because "It was the right thing to do at that time". She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, 11 a.m. at King David Memorial Garden, Falls Church, VA. Family will be observing Shiva at the residence of Jacqueline Goldberg immediately following services through Thursday evening. Minyan 7:30 p.m. each evening. Davis, Dr. Herman L. - Rockville  
    Dr. Herman L. Davis   Dr. Davis was born Dec. 31, 1935 and passed away at his home suddenly on Friday, July 24, 2015. He was the most amazing father, husband and friend. He served in the Navy for four years after graduating from Kendallville High School. After serving our country he went on to obtain his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Indiana State University. He received his doctorate degree from George Washington University. He worked many years as the Director of Financial Aid at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD. After leaving MC he developed his own corporation which he proudly presided as president for 37 years. Dr. Davis is survived by his wife, Sara of Terre Haute, IN, daughter Shauna Tunder of Frederick, MD, son Craig Davis of Ocean Pines, MD, brother, Richard Davis of D'Iberville, MS, sister, Retha Fry of LaGrange, IN, and four beautiful grandchildren, Morgan Davis, Talan Davis, Jasper Davis, and Miranda Tunder. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 30, from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N, Frederick, MD, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Foot procession and interment with military honors will follow the service. GORE Jr., JAMES G. - Washington D.C.  
    JAMES GRAFTON GORE, JR. "Jamie" (Age 68)   A developer, attorney, restauranteur and political volunteer passed away on July 2, 2015 in Palm Beach, Fl. He had been battling cancer. Mr. Gore was born in Washington, DC on September 21, 1946. He grew up in his family's iconic Fairfax Hotel which featured the prestigious Jockey Club Restaurant. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and continued on to receive a B.A. from Long Island University, a Master's Degree in Land Planning from the University of Virginia and J.D. from the University of Baltimore. Mr. Gore was married to Jennifer Grafton on November 24, 1998. They were married 17 years. Mr. Gore served in the Armed services and subsequently worked as a stock broker in New York City for E.F. Hutton. A man of many interests, he was noted for owning the popular Georgetown Guards and Le Jardin Restaurants. He maintained his own law practice in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia, and served as the General Counsel for the National Security Caucus. As a builder in the Washington, DC area he developed many major sub-divisions. Growing up in a family steeped in political history, he worked as a Finance Chairman in Virginia, attended several national conventions and served in various capacities for the campaigns of H. Grady Gore, Sen. Albert Gore, Sr. (D-Tenn.), former Vice President Albert Gore, Jr., and Sen. Louise Gore (R-Md.), as well as others. He enjoyed polo, sports cars, and backgammon, of which he was a world championship player. After retiring with his wife and children to Palm Beach, Fla., Mr. Gore became an active member at Bethesda-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, where he worked with youth and various relief organizations. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Grafton Gore; his daughter Jillian Louise Gore; his son James Grafton Gore III; his stepdaughter, Caroline Gonzmart; his mother, Jill Smart Gore; his father, James Grafton Gore; his brother, Mark B. Gore; his sister, Celeste Gore-Shreck, as well as his cousins, extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given to the Hospice of Palm Beach County.
