    BERNICE ELIZABETH STROTHER BALL (Age 90)   Passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at her residence in Washington, DC. Wife of the late Edward William Ball, Sr.; beloved mother of Janice, Stephen, Alice, Mudiwah, Deborah, Edward Jr., Bernard, Elaine and the late Nathaniel. Bernice is survived by her last remaining sibling, Juanita Thornton and her husband John, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Homegoing Service: Saturday, April 18, 2015, Visitation 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Goodwill Baptist Church, 1862 Kalorama Road, NW, Washington, DC, 20009. BANKS, ALICE H.  
BANKS ALICE H. BANKS (Age 93) A resident of Washington, DC for 56 years, died at Sibley Memorial Hospital on March 24, 2015 of respiratory failure. Mrs. Banks was born in Allentown, PA. She enlisted in the US Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAACS) in 1942 and was in the first group of "Negro" women sent to France during World War II. Mrs. Banks was an employee of the Sheraton Corp. for 28 years. She began as a food and beverage cashier in 1964 for the Sheraton Park Hotel (now the Marriott Wardman Park) and worked her way up to Assistant Controller at the time of her retirement in 1992. She was active in the International Association of Hospitality Accountants (now the Hospitality Financial and Technical Professionals) and served as its local and national President. Mrs. Banks was a lifetime Republican. She was a precinct Chair beginning in 1968 and held numerous leadership positions in the DC Republican Party, including Vice-Chair and Ward 1 Chair. She was a delegate at RNC Conventions for Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, and George W. Bush. She volunteered at the DC Republican Committee office and in campaign offices of numerous candidates, including Carol Schwartz. She was also an active member and officer of the DC League of Republican Women. After living at The Woodner on 16th Street, NW for 43 years, she moved to the Washington Home and Hospice. Mrs. Banks is survived by a sister, Zora Martin Felton of Washington, DC and pre-deceased by a brother, Edward A. Martin of Nashville, TN. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Martin of Nashville, TN; several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015, 2 p.m. at The Beacon Hotel, 1615 Rhode Island Ave, NW, Washington DC 20036. Contributions in her honor can be made to the "Alice H. Banks" Scholarship Fund c/o HTFP, 11709 Boulder Lane, Suite 110, Austin TX, 78726 or the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation, Dept. 560, Washington DC 20042-0560.   FAYE MITCHELL BARBER (Age 60)   Of Ft. Washington, MD, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015 in Arlington, VA. Faye Mitchell Barber, beloved mother of James R. and Rekiya Beach (Terrance). She is also survived by five grandchildren, six sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ms. Barber may be viewed on Friday, April 17, at Mt.   PAUL DAVID BARKER, SR.   Paul David Barker, Sr. of Rockville, MD, died on April 15, 2015.
