RYAN, WILLIAM A.  
    WILLIAM ALOYSIUS RYAN   "Bill Ryan"   On July 25, 2015, Bill Ryan, 79, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Providence, RI, he was a longtime Washington, DC resident and the former Deputy Director of Communications at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, where he devoted a career spanning more than 40 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary, their children, Mary (Gus), Eileen (Jim), Bill (Jennifer), Sheila (Pramod), Clare (Patrick), Jim (Jacqui), Colleen (Ryan), Dee, and Cara (Walid), and their grandchildren, Charlie, Kathleen, Will, Maeve, Michael, Naveen, Grace, Jack, and Ronan. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Duffy Chapel, Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 3630 Quesada St., NW, Washington, DC 20015. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the main church at Blessed Sacrament on Saturday, August 1, at 11 a.m., with interment following mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20906. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's name to the Knights of Columbus Christian Refugee Relief, which offers humanitarian aid to persecuted Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East. Sandoz, Fritz T.  
  Fritz Temple Sandoz   On July 19, 2015, died after an extremely short time at the Halifax Hospice Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. Born in Washington, DC on December 16, 1934 and raised in Chevy Chase, MD, he is survived by his brother, Thomas Ward Sandoz of Kensington, MD; three nieces; Leigh Leverrier, Leslie Sandoz, Mitchell Juliana, and a nephew Thos. W. Sandoz III. Fritz graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, where he was an All High halfback and Co-MVP in the City Title game on the way to Wilson's first undefeated season in the school's history. In addition, he held the inter-high 110-meter high hurdle record for several years. Mr. Sandoz attended the University of Virginia, playing halfback, until slowed by a knee injury. While an undergraduate, he was elected President of Sigma Phi, the first non-senior so elected. Upon graduation, he became Film Editor at ABC, where he worked for many years. He then joined Sandoz, Inc., the family real estate company, until his retirement. At his request, a small memorial service was held in Daytona Beach.

  Tijuana M. Saunders   Departed this life on Saturday, July 18, 2015. She is survived by three sisters, two brothers and a host of other relatives and friends.   ANGELA MARIE SZUMILO   (nee Romanelli) (Age 84)   On July 22, 2015 in Falls Church, VA, dear wife for 59 years of Frank Szumilo; mother of Francis and Anthony Szumilo; grandmother of Christopher and Andrea Szumilo, and of Alexander and Lukas Szumilo; and sister of Michael Romanelli, deceased in 1981. Born in Mt. Carmel, PA in 1931 before moving to Hazleton, PA. She was a resident of Virginia since 1972, and held a Masters certificate in Gerontology from George Mason University. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home, Falls Church, VA. No public viewing is scheduled. However, family will receive friends in the funeral home Saturday morning from 12 Noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association (http:// donatenow.heart.org /).

Tekampe, Robert C.  
  Robert C. Tekampe   Robert C. Tekampe, age 66, of Locust Grove, VA, formerly of Dale City, VA died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in 1949 to the late Leo and Evelyn Businger Tekampe. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church since 1979. He served proudly in the United States Marie Corps for 21 years. Robert was very active in his children?s sporting events and scouting. He was a loving husband and father, and happiest when he was with his family. He will be dearly missed. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Tekampe and his sister, Jean Franklin. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Roberta Tekampe; his five sons, Michael (Deborah) Tekampe, Stephen (Adrienne) Tekampe, Ryan Tekampe, Kenneth (Laura) Tekampe and Gregory Tekampe; three sisters, Margaret Dausman, Mary Cash and Elizabeth Syvertsen; three brothers, John Tekampe, James Tekampe and Michael Tekampe. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Michael Jr., Matthew, Anna, Samantha and Aaron. Family and friends will be received at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, VA 22193 on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 5 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 14160 Ferndale Road, Dale City, VA 22193 on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.

    Amanda Catherine Tyler   On July 25, 2015, Amanda Catherine Tyler passed away after an extended illness. Born September 12, 1950 in Nagoya, Japan, Amanda graduated from the University of Houston, received an MBA from Virginia Tech, worked for a number of consulting firms, including PWC and retired from IBM in December of 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Col. Joe M. Tyler and Annette Roberts Tyler. She is survived by three sisters and one brother, Marty Tesoriero (Anthony), John Tyler (Anne), Eliza Bankert (David) and Joy Riley (Michael); eight nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA at 2 p.m. on Saturday August 1, 2015. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heifer International or the charity of your choice.
