  DONALD J. CARBONE (Age 83)   On Friday, May 22, 2015, Donald J. Carbone, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of 48 years to Josephine G. Carbone; loving father of Karen Carbone; dear cousin of Sister Ellinda Leichtfeld. Also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mr. Carbone was Liaison to the White House during the Johnson Administration and worked for FEMA until his retirement. He was a gifted writer, passionate alumnus of Notre Dame and long-time Parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12 NOON at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 12319 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD. CARLSON, DUANE H. - Springfield  
  DUANE H. CARLSON   Of Springfield, VA on May 17, 2015, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of nearly 65 years to Alice Carlson; caring father of Steven (Patricia) Carlson, Barbara (Karl) Wood, and Janet (Jim) Hagan; loving grandfather of Kevin, Scott, Kristin, Jennifer, Katie, Sara, and Emily; and dear great-grandfather of Paige and Cooper. Pastor Carlson was born in Jamestown, NY in 1926. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, entered Augustana Theological Lutheran Seminary, and was called to the new mission of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Springfield. He would serve for 37 years, growing it to the largest congregation in Virginia. As part of his ministry, he would establish the Ecumenical Community for Helping Others (ECHO) in Springfield and chair the executive boards of the Lutheran Children's Home of the South and the National Lutheran Home. Following his retirement, he joined Kairos and Associates to assist congregations across the country and continued to preach at Patmos Lutheran Church in Woodstock, VA. A memorial service to celebrate Pastor Carlson's life will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 1 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 5800 Backlick Road, Springfield. Interment at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.     Reverend EDDIE LEE CARTER, SR.   Transitioned on Saturday, May 16, 2015. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marlene Anthony-Carter; son, Eddie Carter, Jr.; granddaughter, Shetana Carter; two stepsons, Rev. Dr. Lewis Anthony and Orlondo Anthony (Lynn); a special cousin, Kenady Gallman; cousins and countless friends.   EFFIE LORRAINE CARTER   Passed peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2015. She was a native Washingtonian. She is survived by her husband Marcus Carter; two daughters Kia Oliver and Jheri Oliver; four grandchildren, Nikkia Ward-Banks, Jada Harrison, McKenzie Harrison and Jackson Oliver; and a host of other relatives and friends.   ANDREW CHRISTOPHER, D.D.S.   (Age 93)   Of McLean, VA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He was born on April 8, 1922 in New York, NY. Loving husband of the late Rita Christopher, whom he was married to for 62 years. He is survived by his three children, George (Linda) of Springfield, VA, A. Mark (Leslie) of McLean, VA and Diane Bridge (Robert) of Fairfax, VA. He leaves behind three cherished grandchildren, Paul of Springfield, VA, Steven (Rachel) of Arlington, VA and Michael of McLean, VA. Relatives and friends are invited to Andrew's Life Celebration at MONEY & KING FUNERAL HOME, 171 W. CLARK, OLIVER N.  
    OLIVER NATHANIEL CLARK   On April 20, 2015, Oliver N. Clark died at age 86 at home in Lanham, MD, after a brief battle with prostate cancer. He was born in Delray Beach, FL, from the union between Ernest Wilson Clark and Agnes Levita Clark. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Shirley Catheryn Houston Clark; his brothers, Wilton A. Clark, Sr. and Harold R. Clark, Sr. and sister, Violet C. Gregg. He was a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University ('53) Bachelors of Science, Cum Laude and Howard University ('57) Masters in Physics. He served in the newly-created Air Force with honorably discharge in 1950. He worked at the National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) at its inception and spent the majority of his career there retiring in 1984. He has mentored many, was friend to many and volunteered for many activities including the PTA, the Whitfield Gardens Association, and his church for over 30 years, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. He contributed to innumerable charities and causes. Memorial Services took place on May 2, 2015. He leaves to mourn his children, Kerry Houston Clark (Margaret), Linda Clark Lewis (Wardell) and Penny Clark Diggs (Joseph); his grandchildren, Jason and Serita Lewis, Deborah and Danielle Clark; his sisters, Ruby Young and Beatrice Merritt; many devoted nieces, nephews, family and friends. COFFEY, MARY L.  
  MARY LORRAINE COFFEY   Mary Lorraine Coffey, age 96, of Montross, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday (May 17, 2015), at the side of her beloved husband of 49 years, Joseph Monroe Coffey. Lorraine was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania on September 18, 1918 where she also grew up. She was the daughter of the late William and Pearl (Gummaer) McGee, and the sister of the late William "Fibber" McGee. After attending Strayer College for Business Administration, Lorraine worked at Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps in Arlington, VA as a Logistics Budget and Accounting Officer for 35 years, during which time she met her husband Joe. Retiring in 1977, Lorraine and Joe moved into the house they built in Montross, VA where they started their long retired lives together. Besides her husband Joe, Lorraine also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephew, Karen McGee, Patricia "Patsy" Dragwa, Sharlene Wood, William "Billy" McGee, and her loving caregivers Shelagh and Butch Filkoski, as well as other numerous close friends. Lorraine was a vivacious person and loved life and spending her time travelling with her husband, tending her gardens, decorating for the holidays, or simply walking along the beach. Friends will always remember her as the most gracious hostess as she truly loved entertaining guests in her home. Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Tappahannock, VA on Thursday, May 21, 2015, visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery at a future time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a tribute donation be made in Lorraine's honor to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org/donate .
