    THOMAS R. MAGRUDER (Age 89)   Our beloved father passed away on August 20, 2015, at Holy Cross Hospital, in Germantown, MD. He is survived by his children, Randy, Denise (John) and Kerry, two grandsons, Derwinn and Javon, three great-grandchildren, and was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie and son, Thomas R. Magruder, Jr. Funeral services will be held at Jerusalem Baptist Church located at 2600 P. Street, NW, Washington, DC on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Viewing 10 to 11 a.m.; Funeral Services 11 a.m. to 12 Noon.

McGUIRE, MICHAEL LEE - Springfield  
  MICHAEL LEE McGUIRE (Age 79)   Of Springfield, Virginia passed away peacefully at Fairfax Hospital on August 21, 2015.   Michael was born on August 4, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All of his primary schooling was done at St. John's Cathedral School in Milwaukee through the 12th grade. He went on to attend Marquette University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1958. After completing Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI, Michael was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. While he was stationed in Long Beach, CA, he met Helen - then a graduate student in Zoology at the University of California Los Angeles. Michael and Helen were married in Irvington, NY in 1964. Later, he would earn a Master's Degree in Financial Management from The George Washington University.   Michael's Navy career took him and his family all over the world, including tours in Hawaii, Greece, Italy, and England. During his tenure as Executive Officer on USS JENKINS (DD 447) from 1967-1969, Michael completed his second tour of duty in Vietnam. He served as Commanding Officer on USS MANLEY (DD 940) from 1972-1974, when the ship was stationed in Greece. During this tour, MANLEY played a crucial role in countering Soviet naval presence in the Mediterranean Sea. Michael served 28 years as a Surface Warfare Officer, retiring at the rank of Captain in 1986. Following his military retirement, he worked as a defense contractor, most notably with DARPA, until he retired in 2006.   Memorial Mass will be hekd at Ft. Belvoir on Monday, August 31, 2015, at 10 a.m. followed by burial with Military Honors at Quantico National Cemetery.   www.demainefunerals.com

    Lou Ethel Morman   (nee Olden)   Entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 22, 2015. Loving wife of the late William B. Morman, Sr. She is survived by daughter Julie Oxendine; granddaughters, Chloé Oxendine Wilson and Melanie Oxendine; grandson, Shawn Richmond, Sr.; six great grandchildren; and brother, James Olden. Visitation will be Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Contee AME Zion Church, 903 Division Ave. NE, Washington, DC 20019 at 9 a.m. Service begins at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Suitland, MD.

OLSEN, ROSAURA  
  Rosaura Olsen   "Rose"   On August 26, 2015 at the age of 93, Rose was the beloved wife for 53 years to the late Wayne W. Olsen. She was mother to Sandra Phillips, Shirley Brunkhorst and Nancy Michels. Affectionately known as Mom-Mom to Kimber, Stefanie, Lee, Evan, Sara and the late Jennifer. She was a wonderful mother-in-law to Andy Phillips, Randy Brunkhorst and Darryl Michels. She was loved by so many family and friends. She was a kind, sweet and funny lady. She loved family dinners and was always celebrating whatever the occasion. She kept busy gardening, reading and traveling. A quick call to Mom-Mom and she was ready to go. We loved her so much and will miss her, but know she is at peace with Papa and Jen. We were so blessed to have had her in our lives for so many years. Relatives and friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr., Alexandria, VA on Friday, August 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 8009 Fort Hunt Rd., Alexandria, VA 22308 Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 1 p.m. Interment, Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

PARKER Sr., JOHN L. - Springfield  
  John L. Parker   September 25, 1918 - August 25, 2015   John L. Parker, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Springfield, Virginia with his loving wife by his side exactly one month before his 97th birthday. John was the beloved son of Walter Parker and Helen Schultz, brother of Robert Parker, Willard Parker, Richard Parker, Marie Martin, and uncle to many. His first wife, Ingeborg W. Parker, preceded John in death in 1971. John married Zoe H. Parker in 1979. John was the caring father of John L. Parker, Jr. (Karen Parker) and Stephen R. Parker (Michele Parker), grandfather of Evan C. Parker, Anna R. Parker, Helen A. Parker, and Stephanie M. Parker, and friend to many. John made the Army a career and served in World War II with General George Patton's Third Army, and the Korean War. After he retired from the Army he settled in Annandale and was employed by the Intelligence Threat Analysis Center under the Department of Defense. John was a faithful member at Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and prepared the church bulletin every Friday. A funeral will be held on Monday, August 31 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Annandale, Virginia at 11 a.m. The interment will follow at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 8922 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA 22031.

  BERNARD SANKER   On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, Bernard Sanker of Potomac, MD. SCHWAB, MARGARET C.  
  MARGARET C. SCHWAB   On August 17, 2015, God came and took our mother, Margaret C. Schwab, in His arms and carried her Home where she is now reunited with the love of her life, Ralph D. Schwab, her husband of 54 years. Her marriage to Ralph blessed her with three children, Jim, Kevin and Cathy; seven grandchildren, Josh, David, Mark, Tina, Cathleen, Dallas and Catriona; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Anthony all of whom she loved and cherished.   Upon arriving Home, Mom has been reunited with her parents, Charles and Adeline Casey and her half-brother and half-sister, Bob Montgomery and Dee Johnson. She leaves behind her two younger sisters, Fran and Kay Casey and her sister-in-law, Peggy Embrey.   Margie lived in Alexandria for over 80 years and was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in 1947. Her entire life was spent loving her most precious possessions, her family.   Family and friends can visit at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302 on Sunday, August 30 from 2 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22309 on Monday, August 31 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Comfort Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA).
