  GEORGE T. CORNWELL   On Monday, January 26, 2015, George Thomas Cornwell, of Ijamsville, MD. beloved husband of Ruth J. Cornwell, father of Sydney T. Cornwell and Patricia Ann Higgins, also surviving are four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, two sisters, and other devoted and caring family and friends.   VINCENT E. CORVELLI "Vinny" (Age 65)   A native Washingtonian born on February 10, 1949, Vincent died on January 26, 2015 in Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Patricia A. Corvelli; loving brother of Joseph V. (Suzanne) Corvelli and Donato Corvelli. Also survived by niece Amanda and nephews Anthony, Michael and Joseph. For many years Vincent worked at the family owned drycleaning business American Valet. A gathering will be held at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20904 on Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Reception to follow. COX, GWENDOLYN N.  
  GWENDOLYN NOTTINGHAM COX   Gwen Cox, 94, passed in Springfield, VA, on January 20, 2015. Born December 11, 1920 in Marietta, Georgia of Jennie and Harry Nottingham, attorney and state legislator. A long time resident of Macon, Georgia, she received her BA in English from Mercer University. She married her husband of 71 years, Philip S. Cox, in 1942 and led their family on Air Force career moves to Maryland, Japan, New York, Massachusetts and, finally, Virginia in 1963. Talented in art, music, and decorating, Gwen worked for the Alexandria library system and as a Fairfax County teacher in the late 1960's and 70's. She was a member of DAR for 40 years, and was active in garden clubs, women's clubs and Girl Scouts. She was an accomplished seamstress and flower arranger. In the 1980's, Gwen and Phil began their annual winter pilgrimage to Portugal, where they traveled extensively throughout the British Isles, as well as Central and Eastern Europe. After a brief move from Culpeper, VA, to Jacksonville, FL, they returned to a home in Fredericksburg, VA, and in 2004 moved to Greenspring Village in Springfield. She is survived by their three children: Gale (Glen), Robert and Lisa; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The viewing will be held at Fairfax Memorial, 9902 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, VA, January 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Greenspring Village Chapel, 7430 Spring Village Dr., Springfield, VA, January 31 at 11 a.m. Burial services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

    VIRGINIA SANFORD CRANE   Age 96, a resident of Manassas, VA, formerly of Annandale, VA passed away on January 12, 2015. She graduated from high school and college in Memphis, Tennessee. Post graduation, worked as a hostess on the Southern Railroad. She loved her volunteer work for the church (AUMC) and for the Fairfax Hospital Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E.L. Crane, Jr., and her son Robert E.L. (Rel) Crane, III. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Crane Cheney and her husband Steve, and two grandchildren, Caitlin and Jeremy Cheney. Memorial service is Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Annandale United Methodist Church, 6935 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA. CRESSEY Jr., ROGER W. - Arlington  
  ROGER W. CRESSEY, JR. (Age 86)   On January 16, 2015, in Arlington VA. Beloved husband of 52 years to Lucille O. Cressey, father to Roger W. Cressey III and devoted grandfather to Katherine and Andrea Cressey, all of Arlington VA. He was the son of Emily Idella Conrad and Roger W. Cressey Sr. He was born and lived in Gloucester MA for most of his life before relocating to Arlington to be near his grandchildren. He worked for over 60 years with Sears Roebuck and Co, served in the 211th Field Artillery Unit of the MA National Guard and was a 50 yr member of the Intl Order of the Red Men. A memorial service will be held on January 30 at Murphy's Funeral Home in Arlington, VA from 4 to 5 p.m. He will be buried in Gloucester MA in the spring.

  MARY BATH CROSS (Age 99)   On Friday, January 16, 2015 of Rockville, MD, she peacefully passed surrounded by her family. Preceded in death by her husband Arthur B. Cross. Loving mother of William B. Cross (Mary Lou) and Ellen C. Smith (Charles); grandmother of David MacDonald (Jenny), Karen A. Drengwitz (William), William A. Cross (Crystal), Julia C. Bowen (Paul); great-grandmother of Craig, Patrick, Ryan, Jack, Emma, Luke, Nolan, and Sean. Memorial mass will be held at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Bethesda, MD on January 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment private. CROWE, SHIRLEY G.  
    SHIRLEY GRENNELL CROWE   Passed away peacefully, at age 87 surrounded by loved ones, in Hospice Care on January 22, 2015 at Goodwin House, Bailey's Crossroads, Falls Church, VA. She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving spouse, Admiral William J. Crowe, Jr. (USN, Ret.), former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and former U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James, London, England.   Born in Enid, Oklahoma on January 18, 1928, Shirley was raised in Okeene, Oklahoma, graduated from the University of Oklahoma, and was employed by American Airlines in the Flight Stewardess Corp from 1949-1954. She met and married a dashing, young Naval Officer in 1954. The rest is the stuff of which dreams are made. She traveled all over the globe meeting world leaders and Presidents, yet she never forgot her Oklahoma roots. She is survived by her three children; BGen W. Blake Crowe, USMC, Ret. (Lynne), J. Brent Crowe (Carol), and Bambi Crowe Coval (Brian), four granddaughters; Caitlin Crowe Schrafft (Patrick), Amanda Crowe Anderson (Chris), Zoe Grennell Coval, and Allie Rachael Coval. She will be deeply missed and her memory cherished.   Visitation will be at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. CUMMINGS, GRACE - Boston  
  GRACE ELEANOR CUMMINGS   Grace Cummings, nee Ingalls, 88, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side, on Friday, January 23, 2015. Born in Newton, MA on March 6, 1926, she is survived by her children: James, Jr. (Diane), Diane, Peter (Catherine Gruver), Susan, Elizabeth Brundige (Joseph) and Michael; five grandchildren; Lydia Hand, Carly Brundige, Cody Brundige, Kincaid Cummings and Jack Cummings and beloved nieces Kathleen King and Alicia Ingalls as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. She spent her childhood in Newton, MA graduating from Newton High School in 1944. She volunteered for the Red Cross during World War II. After her marriage to James Cummings, Sr. she moved to Pittsburgh, PA and then to Albany, NY where she worked for state Senator Joseph L. Galiber of the Bronx, New York. She moved to Alexandria, VA in the early 1980's and worked as a legal secretary in Washington, DC for many years. She always had a deep love for Nature, discovered as a girl scout at a young age. She traveled to the Amazon and Southeast Alaska because of that love. Upon retirement, she worked for a time at George Washington's Mount Vernon. A memorial service will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 South Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314 on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 7 p.m.
