McCRAW RUTH McCRAW Ruth Harvey Lewis McCraw of Lynchburg, Virginia, widow of the late Raymond H. McCraw of Lynchburg and the former widow of Ronald F. Lewis of Alexandria died May 10, 2010 in her home. Mrs. McCraw was born in Montebello, Virginia, the daughter of Alma and John Harvey. During her marriage to Ronald Lewis she was an active member at Lincolnia United Methodist Church, in garden clubs, country clubs and a sorority. She was a newspaper columnist and an assistant buyer for Woodward and Lothrop in Washington D.C. She was also an artist, published poet, amateur musician and a short story writer. At age 80, she was married to Raymond McCraw of Lynchburg, Virginia. They lived in Florida and Lynchburg until his death in 1997. One son, Russell Lewis and wife, Jody of Fredericksburg, Virginia survives Ruth Lewis McCraw as well as daughters, Rosalind Lewis of Round Hill, Virginia and Rebecca Pase and husband, Wayne of Ashland, Virginia. She leaves four grandchildren, Jeff Davis and wife, Natalie of Vienna, Virginia, Keith Davis of Washington D.C., Kelly Pase of Houston, Texas and Cody Pase of Glen Allen, Virginia. She also leaves two great-grandchildren in Vienna, Virginia. Mrs. McCraw has a surviving sister, Connie Lewis of Fairfax, Virginia and beloved friend, John Becker of Lynchburg, Virginia. Friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr. Alexandria from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., followed by a burial at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria. Gifts in kind may be sent to Amelon Church in Madison Heights, Virginia or gifts may be made to the Fellowship Fund at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg, Virginia. A memorial service will be held at Westminister Canterbury on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 11 a.m.

Ruth was such a delightful, fun, talented woman - her smile was infectious and her spirit undefeatable. She will live on in wonderful memories of those whose lives she touched. With sympathy to her beloved family.
