ALDO A. BECCI
Of Vienna, VA died on March 15, 2014. Was born in Phillipsburg, NJ in 1923. He was a World War II
Veteran, serving in the U. S. Army
Transportation Corps from May 1943 through November 1945. He graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1949. He completed courses at the Museum of Modern Art, New York City and New York University
, NYC. Mr. Becci completed courses in Graphic Arts at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and University of Virginia in Falls Church, Va. From 1949 to the present time, Mr. Becci has created architectural graphic designs for fabrics and wall papers. He has designed floral patterns for glassware, ceramics and porcelain ware. From 1949 to 1951, he did freelance work at the Scalamandre Museum of Textiles preparing exhibit displays. Mr. Becci was hired by the Defense Mapping Agency, where he has worked as a Surveying and Cartographic Aide, and Visual Information Specialist. He has worked as Assistant to the Section Chief of Visual Communications and, became Chief of Pictorial Arts Section. Mr. Becci worked on the United States Lunar Programs (Mercury, Gemini and Apollo Missions). He was detailed to Hampton, VA Langley Research Center, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, where he was responsible for planning, and organizing and developing the Lunar Landing and Approach Simulator project. Mr. Becci was instrumental in introducing the silk screening process to the Defense Mapping Agency. Founding member and belonged to Vienna Arts Society, Our Lady of Good Counsel and Fairfax County Council of the Arts. His outside interests include freelance designing and painting and his business, Aldo Becci Designs.
Aldo is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Mildred; devoted father of Celia Pammel and John Becci and his fiance Susan Dankoff; brother of Elizabeth Gecik, John "Leo" (Chris) Becci and Gloria Gleason. He is also survived by his four cherished grandchildren, Will, Jay and Mac Becci and Robert Pammel. He was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Aldo's Life Celebration at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Thursday, March 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014. Interment at Culpeper National Cemetery on Friday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
