ANN HECK Obituary

ANN BALDWIN HECK
Ann Heck of Harpers Ferry, WV., was received by God, on September 15, 2015 surrounded by her family and husband of 63 years, Alfred Heck, at Johns Hopkins Hospital. After a courageous two month struggle to recover from surgery she lost her battle with a rare condition of Pancreatic Panniculitis. Born Ann Taylor Baldwin, in Henderson Kentucky, December 26, 1931, she attended Eastern High School in Washington, DC, received her undergraduate degree in Special Education from Indiana State University and Masters Degree in Counseling from Virginia Tech. She taught in Fairfax County, Virginia, and retired her career having risen to Administrative Program Specialist of Special Education, for Fairfax County Secondary Schools. Working full time she raised three daughters and always had her home open to their friends. After retirement to Harpers Ferry, she continued to serve as a Guardian for multiple special needs children who had no one to advocate for their educational needs and was active in the Charles Town Lions Club. She loved helping others, taking care of her family even when they wanted to take care of her and arguing politics with her husband. Her generosity extended from a kind word or hug to the purchase of a home for a friend in need. She is survived by her husband Alfred Heck; daughters, Karen Heck, Laura Heck, Leigh Ann LaRosa and her son-in-law James J. LaRosa; two grandsons; four granddaughters; one great- granddaughter and three adopted international grandchildren. She was looking forward to the arrival of another great- granddaughter. Relatives and friends are invited to Ann's Celebration of Life at Crums United Methodist Church, 2832 Crums Church Rd, Berryville, Va, 22611, at 2 p.m. on October 10. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be sent to the Charles Town Lions Club, Box 326, Charles Town, WV. 25414, or the Hackerman-Patz house at 301 N. Broadway, Baltimore, MD. 21231, attn: Sarah Hoehlein.

Her spirit will continue to live on in her daughters and grandchildren, as she looks down from heaven with love and pride. May you remember the priceless times spent with your mother to find peace.

Mrs. Heck was my second Mother. She was always there for me growing up. She will be missed tremendously.
