NASIF Dr. ANTHONY A. NASIF Dr. Anthony A. Nasif passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home in Great Falls, Virginia on Thursday, April 11, 2013. He was born on June 7, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York to Lillian Abaid Nasif and Anthony Abdo Nasif, MD. Growing up in 1950's Brooklyn, Dr. Nasif (also known as "Tough Tony" and "Ace") had many colorful experiences. He loved Brooklyn's grit which he wholeheartedly embraced. This indefatigable toughness stayed with him his entire life and he remained a fighter until his final day. He graduated from New York University
with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and earned his DDS from the Georgetown University School of Dentistry. In 1969, he married Teresa (Tessie) Navarro Nasif, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. The pride and joy of their 44-year marriage is their daughter, Alexandra Navarro Nasif born to them in 1989 after 20 years of marriage. After serving as a dentist in the United States Army during the Vietnam War
, Dr. Nasif opened his own dental practice in Alexandria, Virginia in 1975. He took great pride in serving the needs of his patients both as a caregiver and a friend. He worked from this practice for 35 years until he retired in October 2010. Dr. Nasif enjoyed traveling with Teresa and Alexandra, spending time with his adoring extended family, working on home projects, soaking in the natural beauty of Great Falls, Virginia, and watching baseball (more specifically, reminiscing about the Brooklyn Dodgers' glory days). Dr. Nasif will always be remembered by those he loved as a fiercely loyal, protective, and devoted friend. He will be forever missed. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; his daughter, Alexandra Nasif of Washington DC; his sister Cynthia Nasif of Brooklyn, New York, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Dr. Nasif's life and birthday will be held on Sunday, June 9 at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, VA.
