Brian Roy Bluhm


Of Blacksburg, Virginia, died Monday, April 16, 2007, at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Brian was born on July 19, 1981, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Dennis Roy and Beverly Adell Workman Bluhm of Stephens City, Virginia. Brian graduated from duPont Manual Magnet High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a Graduate Student at Virginia Tech, specializing in Water Resources, and was a Teaching Assistant for Dr. Loganathan. Brian was a member of the Baptist Student Union at Virginia Tech, a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering and the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. He had a wide range of interests, including a passion for the Detroit Tigers and the Virginia Tech Hokies; a desire for learning and helping others learn; an interest in history; and most of all a heart for God, and a love for his family and friends. Brian was a 2004 graduate of Virginia Tech, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, and a 2007 graduate receiving a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering.

Surviving with his parents, is his sister, Angela M.B. Jones and her husband, Justin of Baltimore, Maryland; and grandparents, Gerald and Stella Bluhm of Waterloo, Iowa. His grandparents, Emrie and Wilda Workman, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Fellowship Bible Church, 3217 Middle Road, Winchester, Virginia, with Pastor Mark Carey officiating. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brian Bluhm Virginia Tech Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund, c/o Marathon Bank 4095 Valley Pike, Winchester, Virginia, 22601. Arrangements are being handled by OMPS FUNERAL HOME, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, Virginia.
