On March 2, 2014, Dana Short passed away in her home and is survived by her husband, Ralph Warren Short, and her son, Reid Warren Short. Born in Roanoke, VA, 11 November 1960, Dana graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1985. She moved to the DC area in 1985 and has resided in Arlington with her family since 1993. Her career included work with the firms of Cannada Design and lately with Fabry Associates, in Washington, DC. Dana had been treated for inflammatory breast cancer for ten years.
Dana is predeceased by her father, B. L. Markham of Roanoke. Dana is survived by her mother Dana Q. Markham of Roanoke, her sister Rebecca Boone and her husband Kirby Boone of Mooresville, NC, brother-in-law Norman W. Short of Macon, GA, sisters-in-law Barbara Teasley of Milledgeville, GA and Lisa Calvert of Gray, GA, nieces Amanda Boone of Mooresville, Nicole Vance of Waynesboro, GA, Joanna Greene of Ft. Pierce, FL, Lacey Walton of Milledgeville, Tracey Cook of Tifton, GA, Natalie Short of Macon, and nephews Kirby J. Boone of Mooresville, William Bray of Macon, Skyler Teasley of Milledgeville, Michael Short of Warner Robins, GA, William Calvert, Jr of Macon.
Funeral services are not presently planned. Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home of Alexandria is assisting Dana's family. A celebration of life will be announced for a future date.
