DEBORAH NIXON  

Deborah "Debby" Nixon, 61, of Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Houston and Beaumont, TX, my beloved mother and friend peacefully passed away on February 27, 2013 in Olney, MD at Medstar Montgomery Hospital. She is survived by her daughter Stephanie. She attended Texas A&M University for her Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in education. She was a reading teacher and dyslexia specialist for many years. She then dedicated herself to developing programs for children with dyslexia during her time at Region V and Region IV Education Service Centers in Texas as well as at Cognitive Concepts before retiring on disability. After retiring on disability, she started a company that sold educational products for children, Nixon Education Services (www.nixoneducation.com) which continues to this day. A memorial "Celebration" of her life will be held in the Chapel at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston, TX, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, TX 77024 on April 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made in Debby's name to the International Dyslexia Association (http://www.interdys.org/DonateMemorialGifts.htm) and the tribute cards can be mailed to her daughter, Stephanie Nixon at P.O. Box 46, Spencerville, MD 20868.
